• Food Quality and Safety Control Technician

        • A Food Quality and Safety Control Technician is a profession for individuals interested in food examination: checking its composition, detecting hazardous substances, determining microbial counts, and evaluating organoleptic characteristics. Students learn about food production and distribution processes, with a focus on quality control and predicting and eliminating quality threats at every stage of production, including storage and transportation. They will learn to take samples and conduct laboratory tests, develop elements of quality system documentation, and prepare the facility for implementation and audit. Training according to an original, innovative teaching program, under the supervision of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences at the Łódź University of Technology, allows students to acquire qualifications expected from the middle technical staff in the food industry.

          A Food Quality and Safety Control Technician is a profession for those interested in food examination: checking its composition, detecting hazardous substances, determining microbial counts, and evaluating organoleptic characteristics.

          Students learn about food production and distribution processes, focusing on quality control and predicting and eliminating quality threats at every stage of production, including storage and transportation. They will learn to take samples and conduct laboratory tests, develop elements of quality system documentation, and prepare the facility for implementation and audit. Training according to an original, innovative teaching program, under the supervision of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences at the Łódź University of Technology, allows students to acquire qualifications expected from the middle technical staff in the food industry.

          Education lasts for four years after junior high school and five years after primary school. Students are prepared for the matriculation exam and professional exams.

          Course of study

          Education takes place in well-equipped school workshops. Students deepen and complement their knowledge and skills acquired in school during classes at production facilities (production department and laboratory), shopping centers, and laboratories at the Łódź University of Technology.

          The curriculum includes: general education subjects, including:

          two foreign languages - English and German; subject in the extended scope - English;

          professional subjects implemented in the form of modular education, covering food science and general food technology, basics of technique, microbiology, food analysis, implementation and documentation of quality management systems, activities of a food company, and a professional foreign language.

          Professional internships

          Professional internships are planned in the second grade (four weeks) and in the fourth grade (four weeks). During their duration, students verify their knowledge acquired during school classes and gain new professional knowledge and skills in real workplace conditions. Internships take place in food production facilities collaborating with the school, such as Dakri, Vandemortele, Zbyszko, Pamso, Superdrob, Jogo, craft confectioneries and bakeries, hypermarkets, wholesale food distributors, and company laboratories.

          Exams

          In the third grade - professional exam in the field of qualification SPC.XX Production and distribution of food products;

          In the fifth grade - professional exam in the qualification SPC.YY Quality testing and ensuring food safety.

          After passing each exam, the student receives a certificate of the given qualification. After passing both exams and completing the school, graduates obtain the title of Food Quality and Safety Control Technician.

          After graduation, students take the matriculation exam.

          • company laboratories and food research laboratories as a laboratory assistant.
          • in food production facilities as a technologist's assistant in organizing and supervising production;
          • in small production facilities as a responsible employee for implementing and supervising the HACCP system;
          • in wholesale, distribution centres, companies specializing in food trade as a quality control and food safety supervisor;
          1. After obtaining a certificate, you can become a quality specialist and internal auditor;
          2. Run your own food industry business;
          3. Continue your education at a higher education institution.
